Bringing together two of our favorite painters, "Lowbrow Candy Store" hints at an underground establishment that pushes, peddles and pimps confectionery goodies. MacDowell and Pagan stretch the boundaries of the current contemporary art movement further into the realm of sexy, smart and funny.

"Lowbrow Candy Store" will take you to the intersection of two amazing artists' pop culture influences. Growing up with the same influences in art and movies MacDowell and Pagan quickly realized this show was the perfect opportunity to use these shared pieces of inspiration as a catalyst to showcase their two distinct styles and points of view in one place.

MacDowell and Pagan invite you to visit their "Lowbrow Candy Store"... Inject their eye candy into a mind numbing high, floating through a pop culture Miseryland as your senses crash ever so hard from the sugary goodness.

About David MacDowell
David MacDowell incorporates media culture, and social themes into brilliant and controversial satirical paintings. Working primarily with acrylics on canvas, David is not afraid of tapping into the dark side of American media worship. Crying babies, candy colored nightmares, and a hilariously acidic sense of humor, some have called his work a virtual “Disneyland on acid”. By bravely peeling away the veneer of pop culture, he validates the abused underbelly of society with x-ray glasses.

MacDowell has shown with Thinkspace Gallery, MModern Gallery, Upper Playground, Flatcolor Gallery, Alcove Gallery, Compound Gallery, Gallery 1988, Last Rites Gallery, The Alternative Café and many more.

About Augie Pagan
Hailing from the California Bay Area, Augie Pagan moved to Seattle to attend art school. Fate had another plan however, and Augie soon found himself working in the world of video games. After 15 years of creating art for various video game companies, Augie decided to test the shark filled waters of a freelance artist. Since then, Augie has been self employed as a freelancer, and has been slowly making his way into the alternative art scene by pursing gallery work. His art has been displayed in Seattle art shows, as well as LA, SF, and NY. Augie also hates the term "alternative art" and can't stand writing about himself in the third person.
