Through December 22nd
Grand Reopening - New Location
Flatcolor Gallery is pleased to announce their grand reopening in Pioneer Square December 5, 2013 5-9PM. The grand reopening features the solo exhibition “Returning” from Seattle artist PARS.
“Returning” marks PARS’s first solo exhibition since 2011 and represents his evolution beyond previous figurative works. Pars has opened up his psychedelic world - exposing the viewer to bizarre new landscapes and themes that explore the vastness and connectedness of our universe.
Vast cloud formations give way to monolithic peaks. Dark nebulas writhe in the cosmic expanse. Diamond vortexes connect the terrestrial to the beyond in beams of energy and morph them into abstraction.
This exhibition marks a progression in PARS's technique; using stencils and multiple layers of spray enamel to create his imagery. His patterns are becoming more varied and complex, colors brighter and more surreal.
On working with PARS
“PARS is one of our original artists we began working with on fine art prints and as we transitioned into being a gallery space in 2009.” Says Cristopher Cook Owner of Flatcolor Gallery. “We love PARS’s work and drive to constantly challenge himself and push his style forward. It makes total sense that he be our first show back as a gallery.”
About the new location
“We know that the exhibiting artists and people coming to see the work on display will enjoy the new space we’ve found.” says Cook, “It’s exciting to be back in Pioneer Square and we’ve found the perfect space for the next phase of Flatcolor Gallery. The new location is at 77 S. Main St. and is a classic, historic Pioneer Square building.”
PARS’s work is inspired by the vastness of nature, folklore and the cosmic where the terrestrial and the universe meet and blend into abstraction.
PARS's style evolved from graffiti techniques into a detailed process of overlapping paint and stencil applications that are a process uniquely his own.
PARS has been exhibiting his work throughout the US, including LA and NY, and also abroad in Australia, Taiwan, Spain, and the UK since 2000. PARS has been featured in numerous publications and his work can be found in the collections of CEOs, young collectors and hooligans alike.
His work has been published in the following magazines: Hi Fructose, Art Prostitute, Cool’eh, Novum, Beautiful/Decay, Day in the Lyfe, and Dirty Soup. As well as these published books: Dot Dot Dash, Canceled Flight, War of Monstars, Pictoplasma 2 and Monstaah!.
