“The artist’s task is to save the soul of mankind; and anything less is a dithering while Rome burns. Because of the artists, who are self-selected, for being able to journey into the Other, if the artists cannot find the way, then the way cannot be found.”
-Terence McKenna
“Journey into the Other”
Featuring experimental landscapes, surreal environments and abstract compositions, “Journey into the Other” transports the viewer to unique worlds created by the artists and challenges the viewer to explore new ways of perceiving the world around them - stepping away from one reality into the “Other”.
Flatcolor welcomes eleven artists from around the country to exhibit their work in “Journey into the Other”. Each of the artists work in “Journey into the Other” culminates in a meeting of imagination, emotion and perception - creating new realities and interpretations of worlds real and imaginary.
One of the greatest gifts that artists give us is the ability to expand how we perceive the world of art, creativity and, to a greater extent, reality. Landscapes become more emotive than perspective, literal forms blend with metaphor and medium. laws of physics and light give way to new laws that govern the reality of the artists mind and creation.
From the complex geometric patterns of Justin Lovato to the ethereal watercolor worlds of Lindsay Victoria Lee Stripling; Flatcolor is excited to host this diverse group of artists as they “Journey into the Other”.
